Letter to Birth Parent

Hello,

We can’t imagine what you must be going though right now. We know that you face decisions that will affect you and your child for the rest of your life. We pray that with the assurance of the spirit, you will feel peace in whatever decision you make. We know that you want what is best for your child. If you chose the path of adoption, we would feel honored if you chose us to love and raise your child as our own. We know that our Heavenly Father loves you, is watching over you, and wants you to find happiness in this life.

Over the past seven years of our marriage, we have tried to start a family and rear one of God’s children. As we have prayed and fasted over the decision, we feel that adoption is what Heavenly Father would have us do at this time. We are anxious to have a family and share our love with another person. We are very excited about sharing the experiences that our family goes through with letters, pictures, and gifts. We feel it is important for every child to know where they came from and to understand that they are deeply loved and that they were placed for adoption to give them the best situation. Several years ago, Ryan’s sister found herself in the situation of being an expectant mother. After many months of thoughtful prayer and reflecting on her options, she chose to put her child up for adoption through LDS Family Services. We saw how hard that decision was for her, but we also saw how much joy and peace she felt knowing that her child was being loved for by a family who could give her all that she wasn’t able to at the time.

We met at our single’s ward and quickly fell in love. We were married just eight months later. Ryan works has an architect and enjoys doing anything fast. He loves to speed around the lake on our jet ski, go for a drive in his jeep, or relax at home watching a movie. He has a sense of humor, is hard working, but also laid back. Nicki works has a fifth grade teacher at our local elementary school and teaches an early morning aerobics class. She loves to decorate our home, shop for clothes and shoes, and play games. She is outgoing, does everything to the best of her abilities, and always sees the good things in other people and life. We are very active in our ward. Ryan serves as a Primary Teacher and Nicki serves in Relief Society and has our Stake Girl’s Camp Director. We are truly each other’s best friend and can be found doing almost everything together. We love to curl up and watch TV, go camping, or spend time with friends having a barbeque.

We both come from large families that have five children. Nicki is the oldest and has three brothers and one sister. Ryan is the fourth child and has two sisters and two brothers. We love to spend time with our family. We see Nicki’s family all the time because they live in the same town as we do. Ryan’s family is only a short three hour drive, which we make whenever we get the chance. Our families are excited with our decision to adopt and can’t wait to welcome a new cousin, niece or nephew, or grandchild into the family.

We are looking forward to the opportunity to meet you. We want to experience all that life has to offer and look to the day when we can share our life with a child.

With love,
Ryan & Nicki
